Direct English is a world-wide network of English Language Training Centres that was launched in 1997 at the Washington DC Franchise Expo with the aim of providing flexible, individual, conversational, assisted English Language courses to professional adults. Developed by language expert Louis Alexander at Pearson Education and later acquired by the Linguaphone Group in 2003, Direct English first started with a pilot centre in Italy, is now franchised in 20 different countries and has quickly expanded to 170 Centres Worldwide.

The Direct English chain successfully trains 100,000 students every year, has upto 70% re-enrolment and the course materials are translated into over 10 different languages.
